Project Site

  • The Catholic Diocese has owned the site since 1956.
  • Originally the purpose was to provide the Catholic Diocese land for a Church and school.
  • In 1982 the North Tustin Specific Plan was adopted. The specific plan recognized the intended use for a church and/or school on the subject property under the existing zoning, stating:
“The public facility use requested by the property owner, Diocese of Orange, would also appear acceptable…”

  • In 2003 the Diocese determined the need for a centrally located Catholic affiliated senior living community to serve the 56 parishes in Orange County. The Diocese also believes a well designed senior community would be more complimentary to the surrounding neighborhood than a Church and school while still fulfilling the overall mission of the Diocese.
  • In 2005, the Diocese of Orange obtained written approval from the Prescott Family that a senior living community would be in the spirit of the original gift.
  • A series of community meetings where held with homeowners in the vicinity regarding the concept between 2007 and 2009.
  • In May 2009, the Diocese application for a senior living community to the County of Orange was accepted and deemed complete, starting the formal public review process.
